Meet Charlie Ashdown
Charlie has recently joined our team on the engineering side of the business. Charlie is a huge football fan and you are likely to find him on a weekend capturing a live game or down the pub watching with friends.

What is your role at MAC?

I am a new Engineer at MAC.

What were you doing before joining the MAC team?

I was a student at the University of Nottingham doing an MEng in Electronic Engineering.

What do you enjoy about working at MAC?

I enjoy the sense of community here. Everybody is very welcoming. If I need help with something or want to ask a question about something that makes me curious, I can just walk to anyone’s desk and ask.

What is your specialist area of expertise?

I haven’t figured that out yet, as I’ve only graduated from University this year!

What does your job look like on a day-to-day basis?

My daily tasks vary depending on what project I am working on. It bounces between software and hardware development, depending on what is required. I enjoy both equally.

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy watching football. I am huge football fan and go to live games with my brother. If I can’t get a ticket for a match, I will always make an effort to watch down the pub with my friends.

What is your favourite meal?

I love Nasi Lemak. If you haven’t tried it before and like Malay cuisine, you must try it.

What is your favourite book or movie?

I am a big fan of the Star Wars films, especially Attack of the Clones. “Your clones are very impressive. You must be very proud.”

Tell us one thing your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

It’s not obvious but I have heterochromia (different coloured eyes).
