Achieving New Heights at the SBD British Open Classic Championship
At MAC Ltd., we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our colleague, Dan Jackman, who recently competed on the national stage at the SBD British Open Classic Championship. This premier event in the world of powerlifting draws the best lifters from across the UK, and Dan was thrilled to take part in the U105kg weight class this year.
The Road to Qualification
Out of 47 lifters in his weight class, Dan placed 28th. While the competition was fierce, he is proud of his performance and the progress he has made. On a broader scale, across all weight classes and genders, his total ranks 750th of all time out of all UK tested competitors, according to the IPF GL formula. Being among the top 1,000 strongest powerlifters in the country ever is a title Dan wears with pride!
Performance Highlights
On competition day, Dan achieved a total of 715kg, marking a significant milestone in his lifting journey. Here's how my numbers broke down:
- Squat: 262.5kg
- Bench Press: 180kg (a new personal best by 5kg!)
- Deadlift: 272.5kg (a new personal best by 2.5kg!)
This total was also a personal best, exceeding his previous record of 712.5kg set earlier this year in April.
Standing Amongst the Best
Qualifying for this open age group national competition is no easy task. Competitors must achieve a qualifying total within the same calendar year. For the U105kg category, the benchmark was set at an impressive 680kg. Only those who meet or exceed this total are eligible to compete for the coveted title of British Champion. Dan met this challenge head-on, securing his place among the nation's elite powerlifters.
Looking Ahead
The SBD British Open Classic Championship was an incredible experience for Dan, and he is already looking forward to building on this success. With every competition, he is learning, growing, and pushing the boundaries of what he can achieve. All the team at MAC Ltd. are excited to see what he accomplishes next and will continue to support him in his journey. Here's to the next personal best and more milestones to come Dan!
